Summit Technical Solutions (STS) (http://sts-llc.com/) is seeking an experienced SME II to oversee the compliance of DOD and USAF directives for nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon systems require that all procedures, personnel, equipment, facilities and organizations shall be nuclear certified. This position, which provides technical advisory services support to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Surety and Certification Division (NTS), is resident at the operation location at Hill AFB Utah. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for providing technical advice and technical assistance to the AFNWC supporting nuclear certification and related activities supporting Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) and MM III weapon systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Nuclear surety and certification of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) weapon system. GBSD is in the Engineering and Manufacturing Design (EMD) phase and the candidate will be monitoring the design efforts to ensure nuclear surety principles are employed so that nuclear certification can be accomplished.

  • Nuclear surety and certification of the various modifications and support equipment replacement programs to the Minuteman (MM) III weapon system. Similar to GBSD the candidate will be monitoring design and production efforts for the changes to the MM III since it is in sustainment until GBSD is deployed.

  • The candidate will be supporting AFNWC/NTS in their efforts to produce/review the various documentary artifacts required to move every certification effort through the process defined in AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118, AFMAN 91-119, as well as other directives.

  • WRT the artifacts required for nuclear certification, the candidate will conduct research and produce white papers, procedural and gap analyses, and compliance reports in support of the nuclear certification requirements.

    Essential Job Functions

  • Comprehensive understanding of nuclear surety principles to monitor design.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear surety and certification processes.

  • Monitor design and production of the Minuteman II weapons systems.

  • Support production efforts of the AFNWC/NTS

  • Review and production of testing and certification documentation such as SOPS, white papers and other documentary artifacts.

  • Conduct research to conduct procedural and gap analyses.

  • Compile compliance reports to support the nuclear certification requirements.

  • Other related tasks as assigned.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear weapons certification

  • Comprehensive understanding of nuclear surety principles

  • Previous experience with the Minuteman (MM) III weapons system

    Preferred:

  • Proven leadership over a team

    Experience

    Required:

  • 10+ years’ experience in Minuteman (MM) III weapons systems or related nuclear weapons

  • 10+ years’ experience in Engineering related field.

    Preferred:

  • 15+ years’ experience in Minuteman (MM) III weapons systems or related nuclear weapons

  • 15+ years’ experience in Engineering related field.

  • Previous military experience

    Education

    Required:

  • N/A

    Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Other Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Active Secret clearance (minimum) and the ability to maintain the clearance throughout period of employment.
