    JOB SUMMARY Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work on highways, drainage structures, and streams. Assists with snow removal and minimal landscaping.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (I/II/III)

    Storm Drain Maintenance Worker I ($37,772/year - $56,657/year DOE)

    A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire, in order to operate a County vehicle. Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of hire OR obtain the Class B CDL within sixty (60) days of hire date to operate a Salt Lake County vehicle. Must possess a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card at the time of hire OR obtain within thirty (30) days of hire date. Must attend flagging training and certify within sixty (60) days of hire date and recertify every two (2) years. Must attend a Defensive Driving course within the first two (2) weeks of hire. Must attend and be forklift certified within four (4) months (120 days) of hire. Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.

    Storm Drain Maintenance Worker II ($41,568/year - $62,351/year DOE)

    Six (6) months of work experience in a related field. A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire, in order to operate a County vehicle. Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of hire OR obtain the Class A CDL within sixty (60) days of hire date to operate a Salt Lake County vehicle. Must possess a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card at the time of hire OR obtain within thirty (30) days of hire date. Must attend flagging training and certify within sixty (60) days of hire date and recertify every two (2) years. Must attend a Defensive Driving course within the first two (2) weeks of hire.     Storm Drain Maintenance Worker III ($46,027/year - $69,042/year DOE)

    Two (2) years of related experience, with one (1) year as a Maintenance Worker II with Salt Lake County. A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire, in order to operate a County vehicle. Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the time of hire OR obtain the Class A CDL within sixty (60) days of hire date to operate a Salt Lake County vehicle. Must possess a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card at the time of hire OR obtain within thirty (30) days of hire date. Must attend flagging training and certify within sixty (60) days of hire date and recertify every two (2) years. Must attend a Defensive Driving course within the first two (2) weeks of hire. Must attend and obtain forklift certification within four (4) months (120 days) of hire. Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Operate heavy equipment including Bobtail truck/10-wheel dump truck, plows and sanders, Front end loader, Boom Truck, Vactor Truck, Skid steer with bucket, water truck and other equipment. • Transport smaller trailers/tilt decks. • Spraying Brine. • Operates a variety of small hand tools & Equipment. • Maintains tools and equipment by keeping them clean, repaired, and stored securely when not in use; performs minor repairs. • Sets up traffic warning signs, traffic cones, barricades, and flags traffic. • Complies with OSHA and/or MUTCD safety rules and regulations. • Maintains/ repairs storm drains, Irrigation systems, and other drainage structures by clearing debris and excess sediment. • Trims trees and bushes; hauls away debris. • Installation/repair of storm drain systems. • Clean storm drain system with a combination sewer cleaning truck. • Prepares snow removal equipment and removes snow from roadways. • Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with employees, representatives from other departments and organizations, and the public. • Other duties as assigned.

    This position is subject to being called to work prior to or after the scheduled shift.

    In an emergency event or an officially declared State of Emergency, responds as directed to ensure the restoration of essential public services, facilities, and infrastructure.
