Project Overview:

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and plan specifications for Geographic Information System (GIS) for complex projects. You will lead the buildout of deliverables and participate in all phases of GIS development. You will coordinate with clients and prepare scope and schedule estimates. Your work will support new GIS opportunities and integration into existing and future projects.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Geographic Information System (GIS) engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​

  • Develops and manages spatial data in an enterprise-level Geographic Information System (GIS) database​

  • Coordinates Geographic Information System (GIS) deliverables, such as spatial data, cartographic maps, and GIS spatial analyses​

  • Develops Geographic Information System (GIS) automation tools for the Geographic Information System (GIS) desktop and web software interfaces​

  • Conducts ocular inspections of sites​

  • Conducts research and development of new tools and workshops,​ CAD and imagery data resources needed for GIS projects​

  • Participates in the assessment of Geographic Information System (GIS) project needs, develops conceptual design, and plans implementation​. Performs spatial analyses to derive new Geographic Information System (GIS) datasets needed to meet project requirements​

  • Documents workflows, COTS requirements, data conversion specifications​

  • Participates in the development of needs analysis, requirements definition, database design and development, installation, quality control, user training, acceptance testing, and system rollout​

  • Provides technical writing to support Geographic Information System (GIS) metadata and project documentation

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • What 3 to 5 KEY factors (ex. prior experience) should be used to determine qualification for the position?
