SERVICE EXPERTS LLC Registered Nurse in OGDEN, Utah

OVERVIEW :

Under general supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, performs community health nursing services as a public health nurse to provide preventative medical services. Positions in this class can be distinguished by the basic nursing duties they perform in the Clinical Nursing Division.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.)

Work in the Immunization Clinic administering immunizations to adults and children.

Work in Cancer Control/Wise Women programs administering pap smears, clinical breast exams and h ealth coaching.

Work in the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) program, including education, collection and preparation of specimens for delivery to appropriate lab.

Answer Communicable Disease (CD) questions asked by the public and other health professionals.

Conduct epidemiology CD investigations (i.e. interviews, contact tracing, treatment, follow-up).

Provide community health nursing care by assessing individuals or families, formulating nursing case management activities, carrying out medical orders (treatments, injections, diagnostic and therapeutic procedure, as appropriate), making appropriate referrals as necessary, providing instructions in community health education, evaluates and sets priorities for public health services, participates in specified programs to the community, provides health education in the community as appropriate, works with other agencies as needed to meet objectives.

Carry out appropriate public healt h activities according to the specific program contractual requirements.

May conduct home visitation visits per program guidelines to families and individuals deemed eligible.

ABOUT YOU :

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate or Bachelor Degree.

Knowledge: Knowledge of nursing theory and practice, working knowledge of medication administration technique, working knowledge base of common communicable diseases, working knowledge of finger stick and venous puncture procedures, knowledge of Universal Precautions, knowledge of how to perform laboratory activities, working knowledge of nutrition, general smoking cessation guidelines, exercise guidelines and general communicable disease control, basic knowledge of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the agency, some knowledge of new developments in community health nursing, some knowledge of home visitation activity requirem ents.

Abilities: Ability to assess each individual receiving immunizations for possible contra-indications, ability to assess children and adults and recognize deviations from normal, ability to handle medical instruments and equipment, ability to use tact and good judgment in dealing with varying situations, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public, ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

The work environment may require travel to clients' homes.

Probation:

New employees to the health department will be placed on a (6) moth probation. Probation also applies to existing healt h department employees who move from one position to a different position, not a career ladder move as described below. At the end of a successful probationary period, no subsequent increase outside of an annual Pay-for-Performance increase shall be given. Failure to pass probation will result in the employment termination. Internal employees who are promoted to a new position will also be placed on a (6) month probation, failure to pass probation may result in a job reassignment.

CAREER LADDER POLICY

Procedure: Promotional moves require the employee meet the minimum requirements of the applicable Weber County job descriptions and that the employee score 3.0 or higher on prior employee performance appraisals. Promotions will follow the Payroll Band/Grade Listing maintained by Weber County Human Resources. The employee will be raised to be the Band/Grade of the new position and their wage increased by six and a half percent (6.5%). Promotions ca n only be given upon completion of the requirements in the job description and will be deferred if the performance expectations are not met.

Nursing

Registered Nurse (RN) I:

Obtain license as Registered Nurse through Utah Department of Professional Licensing(DOPL). Employee with prior related work experience may be promoted to a higher position based on evaluation of experience, i.e. RN II, or RN III.

RN I to RN II:

Satisfy the minimum requirements of RN II job description. Complete a minimum of one (1) year as an RN I or equivalent position with related experience. Demonstrate proficiency and obtain the required credentials to operate at a professional level in clinical nursing services and other programs approved by the director.

RN II to a RN III:

Satisfy the minimum requirements of RN III job description. Complete a minimum of 5 years as a RN II or equivalent position with related experience. Specialize at an expert level and be capable of operating in a lead role or advisory capacity for one or more clinical programs. Ongoing completion of required and elective leadership trainings provided by Weber County required by management and supervisory positions but open to all staff. Demonstrates leadership qualities, capable of operating in a lead role or advisory capacity for one or more clinical programs. Mentor less experienced staff and present professional image of the Weber-Morgan Health Department. Completion of DIS training and Passport to Services Training Complete EHR system super user e-learnings. Demonstrate proficiency in reporting, financials, and proper diagnosis and documentation Maintain a positive working attitude and highest level of professionalism, conduct and productivity. Must complete at least 2 of the following:

Complete a quality improvement project pertaining to the nursing division. Report to general staff and or Board of Health the plan, progress and final report. Complete CIC study and ExamPrepare and present a case report on a complex communicable disease investigation to nursing staff and or Epi team. Prepare and present to the Board of Health on an assigned topic.
