Job Category:Human ResourcesSchedule:Full timeJob Description: PURPOSE AND SCOPE To provide HR and safety support to assigned locations and managers, in conjunction with the HR Manager or Director. The exact duties may vary from place to place and over time, depending on the size, alignment, and needs of the supported group, but the HR Representative is expected to be able to make contributions on all areas outlined below. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Partners with TA to maximize quality of hires and time to hire. Educates and coaches managers in interviewing techniques and making selection decisions. Conducts the new hire processes for assigned locations, collaborating with hiring managers and TA to ensure an effective onboarding experience. Serve as the local contact for employee and manager contact for benefits and wellness programs. This will include communicating the programs and their value to employees, answering routine questions, escalating issues requiring a higher level of expertise to the appropriate Total Rewards staff, and assisting in the open enrollment and new hire enrollment processes. Must maintain a high level of knowledge of relevant benefit programs. Coordinate district drug testing programs, including preemployment, post-accident, and random. Serve as the location primary contact for routine Payroll and HRIS systems issues, including updates and assisting in the training of new staff. Escalates more detailed issues to the appropriate person in Total Rewards. Assists location management in the enforcement of company and local policies. May sit in on verbal warnings and coaching sessions. Independently works with location management on corrective action decisions short of termination. Coaches managers in how to effectively leverage employees as a primary asset of the organization. Maintains positive employee relations. This includes being the local contact for employee communications, maintaining good professional relationships with management and staff, heading up location social events, and reinforcing the need for teamwork. This will include maintaining a periodic presence on all manufacturing shifts, if applicable, as well as some (up to 20%) overnight travel to branch offices, if applicable. Conducts ongoing employee relations activities such as stay interviews, exit interviews, surveys, focus groups, employee lunch and learns, and so forth, in coordination with their HR supervisor. The HR Representative is expected to have strong knowledge of federal, state, and local level regulations applying to employment, and an intermediate level of knowledge of HR best practices. In addition, the HR Representative must have a thorough understanding of the supported business units' operations and personnel. Assist Safety staff in supporting safety initiatives. Assists employees and managers in ensuring new claims are properly begun. Thoroughly investigates each new claim, whether recordable or first aid only, to identify root cause, and works with managers to ensure appropriate corrective action (discipline, process or tooling change, etc.). Provides monthly reporting to district management teams on workers compensation performance, including new claims, accident rates, and open claims. Works with Safety Manager to create and lead district level safety committees. Conducts safety audits of active job sites and district locations. Monitors compliance with required safety training and works with managers to correct. Must maintain an understanding of relevant local safety policies and regulations. Will assist in all local accident investigations and post-accident drug and alcohol tests. Serves on location safety committee and participates in safety audits.
